DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT, EQUALITY AND INCLUSION

Pertti’s Choice programs support disability employment, equality and inclusion.

In Finland Outsider art is reaching new audiences every year.

The tradition of outsider art is still relatively young in our country. However, we are good at mapping, cooperation and creating networks.  In Finland you can visit hundreds of fascinating outsider art environments, private homes and art studios. Welcome to explore these places and find the new worlds inside them.

Outsider art is a concept that covers art created outside the established art scene. In Finland Outsider art refers mostly to self-taught (ITE) contemporary folk artists and artists with learning or mental disabilities.

Outsider art is traditionally connected to visual art. In Finland we also have great outsider musicians, theatre, performances and films that have conquered the world. Within Finnish outsider art we are also utilizing the latest technology and embracing new audiences.

Equality work

OAF works for equality by bringing together outsiders and insiders of the art field, marginalised content creators and the general public.

The equality work is carried out in collaboration with a wide network of partners. The aim is to support the status and the role of outsider art, outsider artists and marginal culture in the field of arts and culture.

OAF is produced by Pertti’s Choice, the world’s first social enterprise founded by disabled people. The company’s profits are directed towards the employment of people with special needs. Find out more about Pertti’s Choice’s activities here.

The impact of our work

The impact of OAF is based on strategic development and inclusive program work. It reaches a wide range of actors from different sectors of society. We monitor cultural, social and economic impacts of our work.
