Besides music, Moussavi works in the film industry and before coming to Pertin Valinta Moussavi will visit Oodi, where they will show a Mississippi Records film.

We are celebrating Halloween on 31.10. from 4pm to 8pm. From the shop you can find some sales and make good findings or you can just come and see how we dress up on Halloween.  We will also have some performances and other program that you don’t want to miss. Wear a costume or come just as you are. Because everything is a little scarier in the dark, we will be open until 8pm.

Needing some new records? Come to Pertti’s Choice on 23.11 from 12 to 16, because we are having a records sales party. There will be some familiar record labels and shops but also some private collectors. This is the place to fill up your record collection and make some rare findings. The Embassy of Finland in Ireland organizes a cultural event 7th and 8th of September, during the Dublin Fringe Festival. Pertin Valinta is also a part of the event with the Inside Outside Finland VR Exhibition. The event is part of the Finnish EU Presidency and the programme is built around the themes of sustainability and equality.

Pertti's Choice Pop up in London

Pertti’s Choice Popup is the London branch of Pertin Valinta, Finland’s first social enterprise owned by people with learning disabilities. Pertti’s Choice takes over Protein Studios in Shoreditch between 7–10 August with outsider art, music performances, vegan café and a shop.

Both in Finland and in the UK, art organisations are exploring models to make it possible for artists with disabilities to build careers. What can artists and organisations in the two countries learn from each other?

TÖÖLÖ BAY AS THE MAIN STAGE FOR FINLAND'S PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF EU

Starting on 1 July 2019, Finland's Precidency of the Council of the European Union will attract a lot of media attention to Helsinki. Assembly visitors coming to town may experience the sustainable everyday solutions Helsinki has to offer. Visitors are also invited to enjoy the experiences around Töölö bay area. Together with local operators Helsinki has indeed invested in the interesting provision of experiences.

Helsinki invites assembly visitors, travellers and locals to enjoy Töölö bay's oasis of experience, that combines the pulse of an urban city and the serenity of nature.

Pertti's Choice is taking part in Töölö bay's event at Oodi Central library 9 July 2019 from 16 pm to 18 pm. Event will be held at Oodi's group room 3 on the second floor. Pertti's Choice will present the new Taiteen Matkaopaspalvelu (Travel Guide Service for Art) and the virtual art work Inside Outside Finland. There will be open guiding at 16–18 pm and guiding for EU guests at 18–20 pm.

Inside Outside Finland leads EU guests onto a virtual journey through Finland's outsider art environments: Parikkala Sculpture Park, Enni Idi's artist home in Padasjoki and Autism Association Finland's art studio and the live performance of Kalevi Helvetti. Journey will be guided by art travel guide Sami Helle.

The visitors of this virtual exhibition are guided by Finnish contemporary artists Jani Leinonen. In his guidance, the viewers can visit Enni Id’s incredible artist residence in Padasjoki, Central Finland, Veijo Rönkkönen’s magical Statue Park in Parikkala, Easter Finland, Kalevi Helvetti’s live performance in Helsinki and the visual arts studio of Autism Foundation Finland. Each of the four episodes is approximately 7 minutes in duration and going through the entire exhibition takes about 30 minutes.

OUTSIDER ART FAIR NYC 2019 & INSIDE OUTSIDE FINLAND

OAF is pleased to collaborate with Pertti's Choice Outsider Art Gallery and Donkey Hotel Studio to present Inside Outside Finland, a VR (virtual reality) exhibition of Outsider Art from Finland, its past and present shown through interactive 360° videos at the Ace Hotel New York. 

Finnish contemporary artists Jani Leinonen will guide participants through a virtual tour of Finland's unique and often outlying art environments such as Enni Id’s artist residence in Padasjoki and Veijo Rönkkönen’s magical Statue Park in Parikkala. Viewers will then virtually experience a live performance by Kalevi Helvetti in a Helsinki punk club, and tour the studio of Helsinki's Blue Circus Collective.

Each of the four visits are approximately 7 minutes long, and will be hosted IRL (in real life) by one of the artists, Kalevi Helvetti, who will also entertain guests with Finnish ghost stories and draw their instant portraits onsite.

DISABILITY DAY ART & ACTION 2018 GOES HKM

Disability Day Art & Action festival culminates on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the Helsinki City Museum on Monday 3rd of December! The event is free for everyone and contains discussions, panels and high-level performances. We want to show you that disability does not have to limit your abilities or participation in culture or art scene either as an enthusiast or as a professional. The most impressive act in the field of disability culture will be rewarded with acknowledged Vimma prize and enclosed 5000€ grant.

At the event you can enjoy the delicacies from Aula työkoti's pop-up café Liemi and make wonderful quality purchases from pop-up art sale points from Lyhty ry’s Luovilla, Pertin Valinta, Abilis Foundation, Aula työkoti and Autism Foundation Keppuli. Mieletöntä valoa has commemorated festival atmosphere throughout the weeks and the results are at display at the main event.

The event is free for everyone and there is no admission fee! Event is Sign Language interpreted and there is an induction loop. The museum is accessible through the main door (Aleksanterinkatu 16).

As a part of Disability Day Art & Action-festival we want to welcome you to Pertin Valinta on 30th of November from 6:30 pm forward to see new art films and a documentaries that explore what it can be like to be an artist outside the norm.

Out by Art-documentaries trace the paths of five artists who are active at various Nordic studios for disabled people in their work with art film. Without previous experience of filmmaking, they have used the camera as a tool for new ways of seeing and communicating. Artistic and personal processes are brought together in the films, which open up for discussions on issues of exclusion and inclusion, outsider art and artistic practices. Out by Art premiered at Moderna Museet on 20th April 2018.

Jari Nordströms Documentary Films 1+2
Jari has experience in video recording and his short film has been featured on YLE. Jari has become a talented editor and nowadays works in Lyhty ry workshop. Jari has made several series of excerpts for Bassoradio and Radio Helsinki and his series of Helsinki metro stations was nominated in Radio Sound’s Radiogaala as the best sound production of 2013.

For meet & greet artists Jari Nordström, Niko Liikanen and Aleksi Pietikäinen are present at Pertin Valinta.

Your gloomy Friday evening in November gets a boost when DiDa brings interesting set of visual and performing arts to Oranssi in Suvilahti, Helsinki. We warmly welcome you to enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

DiDa – Disability Day Art & Action brings together people with and without disabilities to enjoy art and culture. The aim is to raise awareness of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and human rights as well as equality issues in our society. DiDa highlights the expertise of people with disabilities and shapes our attitudes.

Free admission!

Oranssi as a venue is against all discrimination and violence and all events are drug and alcohol free.
Accessibility information:
The entrance to Oranssi is accessible and we have an accessible WC. The venue hall is accessible and has room for bigger moving aids. Toilets are gender neutral.
